No cutting of "specimens" is required. Whenever specimens of material are tested, it is very uncertain whether they represent the true average hardness value of the entire mass of metal under tests. The "Brinell Meter" eliminates the sampling error, as it permits accurate Brinell tests at any chosen spot; a series of Brinell tests on a large piece of metal can thus be quickly made and the average hardness and uniformity of the material may be ascertained.

The Brinell determinations carried out by means of the portable Brinell Meter are equally accurate in tests in horizontal and vertical position, of thick and thin metal sections, of hard and soft metals.

The instrument is of very rugged construction; always ready for use when you need it. Although the portable Brinell Meter does more than the old-style Brinell testing machines, its price is reasonable so that the most accurate method of hardness determination is brought within the reach of the smallest shop.
